Which Height is Right? Choosing the Correct Height for a Counter Stool.

In the past, stools came in two heights. A 30" stool was called a barstool and 24" was considered a counter stool. Unfortunately, all counters are not the same height. To help you get the optimal seating height we offer two sizes of counters stools.

Counter Height Stool Height
34" 24"
36" 26"

When measuring your counter height, make sure you measure from the eating surface to the floor. While these guidelines above are generally true, you must always consider the following:

  1. Size of the user. Are the stools going to be used by children, adults or both? Will the occupants be uncommonly large, tall or short? Children and smaller adults may need a higher stool, while larger adults need to ensure adequate clearance between thighs and counter bottom.
  2. Thickness of the counter top. Most counter tops are only a few inches thick, but if your's is excessively thick, ensure suitable clearance for stool occupants.
